Nokia launches 16-port fiber card for 50Gbps networks
- Nokia (NYSE:NOK) announced a 16-port fiber-broadband line card supporting multiple generations of passive optical network technology with speeds up to 50Gbps.
- The new card allows operators to combine GPON, 10G, 25G and 50G PON technologies across the same hardware platform.
- Nokia said the solution is designed to help operators upgrade fiber networks while protecting data through quantum-safe security features.
Nokia (NYSE:NOK) introduced a new fiber-broadband line card that supports GPON, 10G, 25G and 50G PON technologies on every port, giving operators flexibility in selecting network configurations.
The 16-port card is built using Nokia’s Quillion chipset and multi-PON optical modules, supporting fiber access speeds of up to 50Gbps compared with earlier-generation passive optical network systems.
The solution includes quantum-safe encryption and authentication features intended to protect network and user data against emerging security threats, with general availability planned for 2027.
Nokia said the product is part of its broadband access portfolio as operators continue upgrading fiber infrastructure to support higher data demands.
The company provides telecommunications equipment and network technologies, including optical networking, broadband access systems, and infrastructure solutions for service providers worldwide.
