NIO deliveries surge 62% in May as multi-brand strategy expands premium reach
NIO (NYSE:NIO) reported total deliveries of 37,705 vehicles for May 2026, representing a 62.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
The strong monthly performance accelerates the Shanghai-based smart electric vehicle manufacturer's year-to-date trajectory, bringing total 2026 deliveries to 150,526 units—a 68.7% expansion year-over-year.
As of May 31, 2026, the company's cumulative delivery figure reached 1,148,118 vehicles.
The month's deliveries reflect the operational scaling of NIO's new multi-brand framework, which targets diverse consumer tiers across the premium, family, and compact markets.
The core premium NIO brand led the monthly volume with 20,013 vehicles delivered.
Meanwhile, the family-focused sub-brand, ONVO, contributed 12,029 units, and the compact premium sub-brand, FIREFLY, added 5,663 vehicles to the total monthly output.
Product rollouts played an integral role in accelerating the delivery velocity throughout May.
The automaker officially launched the ONVO L80 smart five-seat SUV on May 15, commencing customer handovers the following day.
To anchor its positioning at the top tier of the premium market, NIO subsequently launched its new flagship executive SUV, the ES9, on May 27, with initial deliveries starting nationwide on May 28.
The luxury vehicle launches build on sustained commercial momentum within the high-margin premium category.
According to data provided by the automaker, the All-New NIO ES8 maintained its top market share ranking for five consecutive months, leading sales figures among all vehicle models priced above RMB400,000 across all energy types.
Management stated that the introduction of the large-scale ES9 executive SUV is positioned to further solidify its competitive moat and reinforce market share in the luxury segment as automotive competition intensifies across the broader Chinese region.
