Nexalin Technology reports positive results from neurostimulation anxiety trial
Nexalin Technology (NASDAQ:NXL) reported the successful completion of an 8-week, single-center, prospective, open-label clinical trial evaluating its proprietary 15 milliamp (mA), 77.5 Hz Deep Intracranial Frequency Stimulation (DIFS™) protocol in adults with generalized anxiety disorder and comorbid insomnia.
Conducted at the Institute of Psychiatry, Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo, participants underwent 20 transcranial alternating current stimulation sessions over four weeks, followed by a four-week follow-up period.
Each 40-minute session was delivered using Nexalin’s DIFS™ device at 15 mA and 77.5 Hz.
The trial demonstrated rapid, large-magnitude, and durable improvements across anxiety, depressive symptoms, insomnia, and quality-of-life measures.
Anxiety response rates reached 77.8% by the end of treatment, with Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) scores decreasing by 14.73 points by Session 5 and 18.30 points by Session 20, maintained through the 8-week follow-up.
Depressive symptoms also improved, with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) scores declining by 9.90 points at the end of treatment, and both response and remission rates reaching 66.7%.
Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores showed sustained improvement in insomnia, while overall quality-of-life metrics improved significantly across multiple domains.
The trial also reported a favorable safety profile, with no serious adverse events, seizures, or manic/hypomanic switches observed.
