Nebius (NASDAQ:NBIS), the AI cloud infrastructure specialist, announced today the construction of a new "AI factory" in Lappeenranta, Finland, with a total capacity of up to 310 MW.

Once fully deployed, the facility is expected to be one of the largest dedicated AI compute sites in Europe.

The first phase of capacity at the Lappeenranta campus is slated to become available to customers in 2027.

This project follows the recent expansion of the company’s existing Finnish data center in Mäntsälä to 75 MW and forms a central part of Nebius’s aggressive global build-out.

Founder and CEO Arkady Volozh noted that the expansion reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to Finland as a primary hub for its global infrastructure.

The company is currently aiming to secure more than 3 GW of contracted power globally by the end of 2026.

This target includes a recently approved gigawatt-scale AI factory in Independence, Missouri.

Within the EMEA region, Nebius has already secured over 750 MW of power, including a 240 MW facility currently under development near Lille, France.

To meet accelerating demand for AI training and inference, Nebius’s factories are being outfitted with the latest generations of NVIDIA accelerated compute.

The company’s Mäntsälä facility already houses Europe’s first operational deployment of the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 platform.

Nebius confirmed it intends to offer the next-generation NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 platform starting later this year.

The Lappeenranta project, situated on a roughly 100-acre industrial site, is expected to provide a significant economic boost to the South Karelia region.

The construction phase will create up to 700 skilled jobs, with approximately 100 permanent positions and hundreds of indirect roles established once the data center is operational.
