Monopar Therapeutics (NASDAQ:MNPR) announced encouraging mid-stage clinical results for its investigational Wilson disease therapy, demonstrating widespread stabilization in liver pathology alongside substantial neurological and quality-of-life improvements.

The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical firm delivered the data from its Phase 2 ALXN1840-WD-205 clinical trial during a presentation at the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) Congress 2026.

The open-label study tracked 29 treatment-experienced Wilson disease patients over a 48-week period to assess how the targeted therapeutic affects long-term tissue damage caused by the progressive genetic condition.

Histological evaluations completed at the end of the 48-week trial window demonstrated high rates of liver histology stabilization or structural improvement among the patient cohort.

In addition to halting or reversing localized hepatic deterioration, the treatment triggered significant improvements in neurological function and global clinical outcomes.

Participants also reported measurable gains across standard quality-of-life indices, indicating a meaningful reduction in the daily symptom burdens associated with systemic copper toxicity.

Monopar reported that the oral therapy maintained a generally well-tolerated safety profile across the multi-week regimen, with the majority of adverse events tracking as mild to moderate and no new or unexpected safety signals identified by trial investigators.
