Modine lands historic $4B data center cooling supply deal
Modine Manufacturing Company (NYSE:MOD) signed a monumental multi-year Long-Term Capacity Agreement (LTA) with a strategic data center customer, securing more than $4 billion in guaranteed product commitments for its "Airedale by Modine" critical cooling systems.
The Racine, Wisconsin-based thermal management specialist announced Tuesday that the massive agreement spans calendar years 2027 through 2029.
Highlighting the scale and urgency of the contract, the undisclosed customer has provided Modine with an immediate $165 million upfront cash payment.
This capital injection will directly fund necessary manufacturing facility expansions and related capital expenditures to ensure production capacity targets are hit.
The multi-billion-dollar backlog win represents nearly 30% of Modine's current $13.74 billion market capitalization, reflecting the explosive demand for advanced cooling infrastructure as hyperscale operators and artificial intelligence developers build out dense computing clusters.
The strategic partnership follows an aggressive capital deployment program by Modine to expand its production facilities.
The company previously initiated a multi-year $100 million investment to scale production of its Airedale product line, including the launch of a 155,000-square-foot facility in Franklin, Wisconsin, alongside expansions in Grand Prairie, Texas; Grenada, Mississippi; and Jefferson City, Missouri.
Under the terms of the LTA, the dedicated manufacturing lines will yield building-optimized, end-to-end data center cooling ecosystems designed to improve Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and manage severe heat loads generated by next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs) and high-performance servers.
