Microchip Technology (NASDAQ:MCHP) announced the completion of its acquisition of Hailo Technologies, a provider of accelerated edge AI processors, vision processors, robotics processors and AI software technologies.
The acquisition strengthens Microchip’s embedded processing portfolio by adding Hailo’s AI acceleration and vision processing capabilities to its existing solutions spanning field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), connectivity, security, analog and power technologies.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Microchip said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results.
Hailo brings an ecosystem of more than 100 customers and over 10,000 developers, along with broad participation across open-source communities and AI development platforms.
Microchip said it will continue supporting Hailo’s existing products, software environment and customer relationships while investing in new tools and technologies aimed at simplifying artificial intelligence deployment at the intelligent edge.
The combined capabilities are expected to support growing applications in Edge AI, machine vision, robotics and Physical AI systems where processing increasingly occurs closer to devices rather than in centralized data centers.
