MetaVia (NASDAQ:MTVA) has reported new data from its cardiometabolic pipeline at the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) 2026 Scientific Sessions in New Orleans.

The findings, presented as late-breaking abstracts, detail the clinical progress of the company’s lead obesity candidate, DA-1726, and the therapeutic potential of vanoglipel (DA-1241) in combination regimens.

The Phase 1 data for DA-1726, a novel dual agonist targeting both GLP-1 and glucagon receptors (GLP1R/GCGR), demonstrated strong efficacy in obese, otherwise healthy adult subjects.

At the 48 mg dose level, participants achieved a 9.1% mean reduction in body weight by Day 54.

The results were marked by a lack of a plateau in weight loss during the study period, alongside notable decreases in waist circumference.

The safety profile remained consistent with previous observations, characterized by generally mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal events and no treatment-related discontinuations.

In addition to the clinical data for DA-1726, MetaVia unveiled preclinical results highlighting the versatility of its GPR119 agonist, vanoglipel.

In mouse models, the combination of vanoglipel with resmetirom showed synergistic hepatoprotective and weight-loss effects, specifically addressing pathologies associated with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).

A separate study evaluating vanoglipel in combination with metformin demonstrated enhanced glycemic control and body weight reduction compared to either agent used as a monotherapy.

These findings support MetaVia’s strategic interest in positioning vanoglipel as a foundational component for future combination therapies targeting the overlapping symptoms of MASH, Type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
