Merlin (NASDAQ:MRLN) reported its inaugural quarterly results as a public company on Thursday, unveiling a new product family designed to bring autonomous flight to large, multi-crew aircraft.

The move signals a major commercial expansion for the Boston-based technology firm, moving its "Merlin Pilot" system beyond small test airframes into the high-stakes sectors of commercial cargo and heavy military transport.

Merlin reported total revenue of $1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2026.

While the top line remains modest, the company's net loss widened to $90.4 million, primarily driven by one-time non-cash charges related to its recent business combination and intensive R&D spending.

On an adjusted basis, the EBITDA loss was $23.3 million.

Following a successful $80 million private placement (PIPE) that closed on May 1, the company significantly bolstered its balance sheet, reporting a pro forma cash position of approximately $183 million.

With no debt, management emphasized that the company is well-capitalized to fund its regulatory certification through 2027.

The quarterly highlight was the introduction of Condor, a product family specifically engineered to integrate the Merlin Pilot autonomy core into large aircraft like the C-130J and wide-body commercial freighters.

Condor aims to enable reduced-crew operations, where AI manages complex flight systems alongside human pilots to increase safety and operational efficiency.

Operational momentum continued during the quarter with the execution of the first fully automated takeoffs in both the United States and New Zealand.

The company is also making significant strides in its certification program with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the FAA, aiming to become the first entity to achieve a certified, fully automated "takeoff-to-touchdown" flight on a fixed-wing aircraft.

In the defense sector, Merlin continues to execute as a prime contractor on a $105 million IDIQ contract with U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for C-130J autonomy.

On the commercial front, the company signed a preliminary memorandum of understanding with World Star Aviation Limited to explore the deployment of Condor across global cargo fleets.
