Merck (NYSE:MRK) announced positive topline results from its Phase 3 study evaluating tulisokibart for active ulcerative colitis.
The clinical trial successfully met its primary endpoint of clinical remission at week 12 with zero safety issues.
"These positive Phase 3 induction results for tulisokibart are the first for an anti-TL1A biologic," said Merck Senior Vice President, Head of Global Clinical Development and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Eliav Barr.
This investigational humanized monoclonal antibody is currently being evaluated across seven different chronic disease indications.
Following the announcement of the upcoming data presentations, Merck's share price was down at $113.87.
The business plans to present these results along with maintenance data at a future medical congress.
This pipeline expansion underpins the company's broader corporate strategy to develop novel immunology treatments.
