Leifras (NASDAQ:LFS) said it entered a memorandum of understanding on Dec. 26 with Tachibana Gakuen and Matsumoto to launch a collaborative initiative aimed at addressing school refusal among students in Japan.

Under the agreement, Leifras will contribute its sports education and youth-development expertise, while Tachibana Gakuen will oversee school management and provide direct student support.

Matsumoto will supply land and facilities in Kitakyushu and take responsibility for overall project supervision.

The partners said the initiative is designed to create a sustainable business model that blends social impact with revenue generation.

The project will begin in Fukuoka Prefecture, with plans for expansion across Japan if initial results are positive.

Leifras said the collaboration could also serve as a blueprint for future adaptation in Western markets, as policymakers and educators grapple with rising absenteeism and disengagement among school-age children.
