KBR (NYSE:KBR), a global provider of science, technology, and engineering solutions, announced today, December 15, 2025, that it has been awarded a critical technology and engineering contract by IGNIS, a global energy company with a significant renewable portfolio, to support a new green ammonia facility in A Coruña, Spain.

The contract mandates KBR to deliver its proprietary engineering design and pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) services for the new plant.

The facility is being designed for a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green ammonia.

This process will involve using renewable energy—drawn from Spain’s extensive resources—to produce green hydrogen, which will then be converted into green ammonia.

Green ammonia is a vital component in the energy transition, serving as a highly efficient and easily transportable carrier for clean hydrogen, a clean fuel in its own right, and a necessary input for producing renewable fertilizers.

The award underscores KBR's deep expertise in the sector.

The firm highlighted its comprehensive ammonia technology portfolio, which also includes its H2ACT® ammonia cracking technology.

This cracking solution is designed to efficiently dissociate clean ammonia back into high-purity hydrogen where it is needed, completing the hydrogen supply chain loop.

KBR boasts an extensive history in ammonia technology, having licensed, engineered, or constructed over 260 grassroots ammonia plants worldwide since 1943.

This decades-long track record positions KBR as a key facilitator in the global scale-up of low-carbon ammonia production.

IGNIS's A Coruña project is part of a broader strategy to harness Spain's renewable potential for domestic and European clean energy markets, further supporting the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industrial sectors.
