This result marks an increase from $4.5 million last year, but a decline from $11.5 million last quarter.
"I am excited about our second quarter results as we continued to execute on our strategy of consistent, quality earnings through the optimization of our balance sheet," said Investar Holding President and Chief Executive Officer John D'Angelo.
Investar Holding raised its quarterly dividend by 9% to $0.12 per share and repurchased 27,235 shares for $27.68 each.
Following the announcement, Investar Holding's share price was down at $29.87.
The bank expanded its net interest margin to 3.67% while maintaining a strong total capital ratio of 14.99%.
Management concluded the period with $3.06 billion in total loans, $3.21 billion in total deposits, and $36.3 million allocated for credit losses.
