  • Incyte reported Phase 1/2 results for latarcibart showing an 81% median reduction in annualized bleeding rates among 16 VWD patients.
  • The study found latarcibart was generally well tolerated, with limited treatment-related adverse events reported.
  • Incyte said the results support continued Phase 3 development of a potential monthly preventive treatment for von Willebrand disease.

Incyte (NASDAQ:INCY) reported complete Phase 1/2 safety and efficacy data from 16 patients treated with latarcibart, an investigational Protein S-targeting antibody being developed for von Willebrand disease (VWD).

The results showed a median 81% reduction in annualized bleeding rates across all VWD types and bleeding categories, with the findings presented at the 34th Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis in Paris.

“These results continue to build a highly consistent body of evidence supporting latarcibart as a significant potential treatment advancement for patients with VWD,” said Incyte President and Global Head of Research and Development Pablo J. Cagnoni.

The study included patients who received six doses of latarcibart, with maintenance injections administered subcutaneously every four weeks, and Incyte reported reductions of 75% to 100% among patients switching from previous von Willebrand factor replacement prophylaxis.

Incyte said latarcibart demonstrated a favorable safety profile in the study, with three treatment-related adverse events reported, including two Grade 2 headaches in one patient and one Grade 1 injection-site reaction.

Latarcibart is being evaluated as a potential once-monthly subcutaneous prophylactic therapy for VWD, an inherited bleeding disorder currently treated in many cases with frequent intravenous replacement factor infusions.

Incyte is continuing enrollment in the Phase 3 VIVID-6 study and said latarcibart may also have potential applications in other bleeding disorders due to its mechanism of action.
