  • Hudbay Minerals (NYSE:HBM) received approval from Peru’s SENACE to increase Constancia mine capacity to 34 million tonnes per year.
  • The expansion lifts processing capacity from 31 million tonnes and extends the mine’s expected life.
  • The approval also includes upgraded tailings and water infrastructure and allows up to 10% above nominal daily capacity.

Hudbay Minerals (NYSE:HBM) said it received regulatory approval from Peru’s SENACE to amend the environmental permit for its Constancia copper mine.

The approval increases permitted mill processing capacity to 34 million tonnes of ore per year, up from 31 million tonnes.

The company said the change supports a longer mine life and optimization of its mine plan.

Hudbay also said the amendment authorizes additional tailings transport and water management infrastructure to support higher throughput.

The company said operational flexibility remains in place to run up to 10% above nominal daily capacity when required.

Constancia remains one of Hudbay’s key copper operations, contributing to its broader production portfolio in Peru.
