Hope Bancorp profit jumps to $33 million

Hope Bancorp (NASDAQ:HOPE), the holding company of Bank of Hope, reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $33 million, or $0.26 per diluted common share, compared with a net loss of $24.8 million, or $0.19 per share, in the second quarter of 2025.

The company’s second-quarter profit increased from $29.5 million, or $0.23 per diluted common share, in the first quarter of 2026, while adjusted net income excluding notable items reached $34.5 million, up from $24.6 million a year earlier.

“Overall, we delivered strong quarterly results and are pleased with the continued progress made to improve the profitability and core operating performance of the Bank,” said Hope Bancorp Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin S. Kim.

Hope Bancorp reported that second-quarter earnings growth was supported by loan growth, net interest margin expansion, lower funding costs, increased fee income and expense discipline, while adjusted net income excluding notable items was $0.27 per diluted common share.

The company said it is focused on balance sheet management, expense control and strengthening client relationships.

Hope Bancorp operates Bank of Hope, a financial institution serving commercial and consumer customers through banking services and lending activities.

The company is also pursuing the acquisition of the Commercial Banking Unit of SMBC MANUBANK, which Kevin S. Kim said is expected to expand middle market and multinational banking capabilities, develop specialty deposit businesses and broaden its Southern California presence.
