Hims & Hers enters Japan with acquisition of telehealth firm Eucalyptus

Hims & Hers Health (NYSE:HIMS) has finalized the acquisition of Eucalyptus, the parent company of digital weight-management platform Juniper, marking the telehealth provider's official commercial entry into the Japanese healthcare market.

The transaction allows Hims & Hers to integrate its proprietary technology, data assets, and clinical infrastructure into an established platform already serving local consumers.

Juniper initially launched its services in Japan in November 2023, offering a structured, evidence-based approach to metabolic and weight care.

The regional market presents a distinct clinical landscape; industry data indicates that individuals in Japan with weight-related concerns wait an average of six years before seeking formal medical support for weight loss.

The acquisition aims to address this gap in accessible care by combining existing local operations with global technical scale.

Andrew Dudum, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hims & Hers, noted that the company plans to accelerate access to quality weight management solutions in Japan by leveraging the full capacity of its primary telehealth platform behind the regional team.

To navigate the strict regulatory and cultural standards of the region, Hims & Hers will maintain a localized clinical framework.

Patients utilizing the platform will continue to be connected directly with licensed Japanese medical providers who possess specific expertise in the local healthcare system.

Ensuring continuity of care remains a primary operational priority during the corporate integration.

Treatment protocols for existing patients who registered and received care through Juniper will proceed without interruption as the brand transitions under the Hims & Hers corporate umbrella.
