Hemab Therapeutics presents positive sutacimig data
- Hemab Therapeutics (NASDAQ:COAG) reported positive Phase 2 clinical results for sutacimig in patients with Glanzmann thrombasthenia.
- The company received FDA endorsement to initiate a Phase 3 trial in the second half of 2026.
- Data indicates a significant reduction in treated bleeding rates and successful hemostasis in surgical procedures.
Hemab Therapeutics (NASDAQ:COAG) shared Phase 2 long-term extension data for its drug candidate sutacimig, which demonstrated sustained prophylactic bleed reduction across 34 patients with Glanzmann thrombasthenia.
This study followed participants for a median of 6.9 months, with some patients reaching up to 15.9 months of exposure, contrasting with historical trends of high weekly bleeding rates.
The company stated that 92 percent of participants who experienced bleeds during the study run-in period saw reduced rates on sutacimig, while high-intensity treated bleeds dropped by 62 percent.
Following the positive clinical results, the company expects to launch a Phase 3 trial in the second half of 2026 using a 0.2 mg/kg weekly regimen.
Hemab continues to research rare blood clotting disorders, including Factor VII deficiency, where recent preclinical data showed the drug successfully restored thrombin generation.
These clinical efforts address a significant unmet need, as natural history studies have documented that patients with these conditions historically face high rates of depression and limited access to effective prophylaxis.
