Helix Energy Solutions Group (NYSE:HLX) has secured a significant multi-year contract with a major operator for riserless plug and abandonment (P&A) operations on up to 34 subsea wells in the UK North Sea.

The awarded scope of work is set to commence in 2026 and includes tasks such as the flushing and disconnection of pipelines and the P&A of the wells.

The company plans to deploy its Helix-owned assets, utilizing either the Well Enhancer or the Seawell, both purpose-built light well intervention vessels equipped with saturation diving capabilities, subsea intervention lubricators, and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

In addition to providing the necessary vessels and equipment, Helix will offer comprehensive project management and engineering services to ensure the successful delivery of a fully integrated solution to the operator.
