Grifols signs 10-year renewable energy deal with Engie

Grifols (NASDAQ:GRFS) signed a 10-year renewable power purchase agreement with Engie covering 40 GWh of electricity annually from 2027 through 2037 to increase renewable energy use across its Spanish operations.

The agreement will raise renewable electricity coverage in Spain to 66% of demand and supports Grifols’ decarbonization strategy under its sustainability targets.

Grifols said renewable electricity from new Spanish solar and wind assets is expected to reduce approximately 8,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, while supporting its goal of using 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

The company’s 2025-2027 Sustainability Plan includes emissions reduction targets, including a goal to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% from 2022 levels by 2030.

Grifols develops plasma-derived medicines and operates manufacturing facilities requiring significant energy resources across its global network.

The company has set a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as part of its long-term environmental strategy.
