Genuine Parts Company (NYSE:GPC) reported third-quarter 2026 sales of $6.5 billion, up 4.2% year over year, supported by 2.9% comparable-sales growth.

Despite higher sales, net income slipped to $224 million from $226 million, while GAAP diluted earnings remained unchanged at $1.62 per share.

The company generated $817 million in operating cash flow and $502 million in free cash flow during the first nine months of 2026.

Genuine Parts remains on track to separate its automotive business and Motion industrial operations into two publicly traded companies in the first quarter of 2027.

Editorial note: The reported Q3 figures and guidance revision are consistent with the October 20, 2026 syndicated results summary. The full company-issued Q3 financial release was not independently retrieved, so no unverified executive quotation or stock-market reaction has been included.

The adjusted EPS guidance reduction is significant: the lower end remains $7.50, but the upper end declines from $8.00 to $7.75, reducing the guidance midpoint from $7.75 to $7.625. GAAP EPS guidance has also been reduced from $5.90–$6.40 to $5.60–$5.85.

Although revenue increased, GAAP net income declined slightly, and adjusted EPS increased. These measures reflect different aspects of profitability and should not be presented interchangeably.

The nine-month operating cash flow of $817 million and free cash flow of $502 million are year-to-date measures, not third-quarter-only figures.

The planned Q1 2027 separation remains conditional on corporate, regulatory and other requirements. It has not yet been completed.
