
GameStop expects Q2 profit up to $310 million

GameStop (NYSE:GME) reported preliminary second quarter 2026 results showing expected net income of $290 million to $310 million, compared with $168.6 million in the prior-year period.
The company expects net sales of $780 million to $800 million for the 13 weeks ended August 1, 2026, compared with $972.2 million a year earlier, mainly due to the prior-year Nintendo Switch 2 launch, planned store closures, and the sale of its France operations.
GameStop expects operating income of $150 million to $170 million, compared with $66.4 million in the previous second quarter, while its cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities are expected to total $5.050 billion to $5.070 billion.
The company said quarterly net income includes approximately $238 million in gains related to its eBay derivative asset and equity investment, partially offset by an estimated $75 million loss on digital assets and related receivables.
GameStop operates a video game retail business and has adjusted its operations through store closures and asset sales while maintaining investments outside its core retail operations.
As of August 1, 2026, GameStop held approximately 43.4 million shares of eBay common stock with a fair value of about $4.947 billion, and the company expects to release full second quarter results on September 8, 2026.
