Arthur J. Gallagher bolsters marine expertise with Mays Brown acquisition

Arthur J. Gallagher (NYSE:AJG) announced on Monday that its claims management subsidiary, Gallagher Bassett, has acquired Mays Brown Solicitors, a boutique law firm headquartered in London specializing in shipping and maritime law.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Gallagher Bassett’s technical capabilities within the marine sector.

Mays Brown is recognized for its expertise in providing legal and claims support to the shipping industry, a niche that requires high-level navigation of international maritime regulations and dispute resolution.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Mays Brown team will continue to operate from their current London office.

They will report directly to the Head of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) for Gallagher Bassett.

This integration is expected to provide Gallagher with a more robust footprint in the London maritime market, enhancing the firm's ability to manage complex global shipping claims.
