Flagstar Bank profit rises to $34 million

Flagstar Bank (NYSE:FLG) reported second-quarter net income of $34 million, marking its third consecutive profitable quarter.

Net income increased from $21 million in the first quarter and reversed a $70 million loss recorded one year earlier.

Common shareholders received $26 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, while adjusted earnings were $23 million, or $0.05.

Flagstar authorised a $250 million buyback as adjusted pre-provision net revenue increased 51% from the previous quarter to $62 million.

Meanwhile, Flagstar reduced multifamily and commercial real estate loans by $1.5 billion while commercial and industrial loans rose $2 billion to $18.6 billion.

The bank ended June with a 13.16% CET1 ratio, $1.6 billion in excess capital and tangible book value of $17.51 per share.
