Fate Therapeutics receives $15 million CIRM grant

Fate Therapeutics (NASDAQ:FATE) received a $15 million grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine to support the Phase 2 RECLAIM-LN clinical trial evaluating FT819, an off-the-shelf CAR T-cell therapy.
The funding was awarded through CIRM’s CLIN2 program and will support the clinical development of FT819 in patients with refractory moderate-to-severe systemic lupus erythematosus with lupus nephritis.
The RECLAIM-LN trial will evaluate the safety and efficacy of FT819, which is designed to target and deplete pathological B cells, although the intended mechanism has not been reported as a clinical trial result.
Fate Therapeutics develops cell therapies using induced pluripotent stem cell technology, including CAR T-cell therapies designed for potential use across cancer and autoimmune disease areas.
The company said the CIRM funding will support continued clinical development of FT819 as it advances through evaluation for autoimmune disease treatment applications.
