Emergent BioSolutions wins $24 million vaccine contract

Emergent BioSolutions (NYSE:EBS) received a contract modification valued at approximately $24 million from BARDA to supply CYFENDUS anthrax vaccine for U.S. government preparedness programs.

The award supports the Strategic National Stockpile and follows CYFENDUS FDA approval in July 2023 as a two-dose post-exposure prophylaxis vaccine for adults ages 18–65 when used with recommended antibacterial drugs.

Emergent said the contract builds on its partnership with the U.S. government and follows a 2026 delivery order valued at up to $21.5 million for BioThrax vaccine supply to the U.S. Department of War.

The company highlighted a recent NEJM Evidence study evaluating CYFENDUS use following anthrax exposures in Wyoming.

Emergent BioSolutions develops and manufactures medical countermeasures, including vaccines and therapeutics used for public health and government preparedness programs.

The company continues supplying anthrax-related products to U.S. government agencies through contracts supporting biodefense readiness.
