ECARX Holdings (NASDAQ:ECX), a global leader in automotive intelligence technology, announced on April 8, 2026, that its Board of Directors has approved a preliminary plan to pursue the acquisition of a minority interest and specific intellectual property assets related to FlyMe OS.
The potential transaction involves assets held by DreamSmart Technology, an affiliate of ECARX.
FlyMe OS, originally developed as a mobile operating system, has gained significant traction in the automotive sector for its seamless integration between smartphones and vehicle cockpits, providing a highly intuitive user experience for "software-defined" vehicles.
According to the regulatory filing, the consideration for the acquisition is expected to include a combination of cash and ECARX securities.
To fund the transaction, the company stated it may seek third-party financing.
The move signals ECARX’s intent to consolidate its control over the core software stack that powers its next-generation digital cockpits and automated driving systems.
ECARX emphasized that the transaction remains in an exploratory phase.
The completion of the deal is subject to several conditions, including rigorous due diligence, the negotiation of definitive agreements, the securing of necessary financing, and final approval from the Board of Directors.
