DigitalBridge to acquire ArcLight for up to $1.05B to satiate AI power demand
DigitalBridge Group (NYSE:DBRG) agreed to acquire ArcLight Capital Partners for up to $1.05 billion, bridging the gap between data center operators and the electric grid as artificial intelligence applications trigger unprecedented demands for power.
The transaction is structured around a base purchase price of $650 million, alongside an additional contingent earn-out component of as much as $400 million tied to future financial milestones.
Upon completion, the combination will create an alternative asset management powerhouse targeting the structural convergence of energy, machine learning, and connectivity, with aggregate assets under management exceeding $150 billion.
Following the closing, Boston-based ArcLight will continue to operate as a separately managed business unit within the DigitalBridge corporate architecture.
The acquisition arrives at a critical juncture for the technology sector, where the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure is colliding with severe electrical grid constraints.
