DBV Technologies (NASDAQ:DBVT) has screened the first participant in its THRIVE study, evaluating the Viaskin Peanut patch in infants aged 6 to 12 months over a multi-year period.

DBV Technologies has initiated screening for the first participant in its Phase 2 THRIVE clinical trial, marking an expansion of the company’s epicutaneous immunotherapy pipeline into the infant demographic.

The study evaluates the viability of the VIASKIN Peanut Patch in children aged 6 to 12 months who have been diagnosed with a peanut allergy.

The THRIVE trial is structured as a single-arm, open-label study designed to monitor the long-term efficacy and safety of the low-profile adhesive patch.

According to the trial protocol, enrolled infants will receive a daily application of the VIASKIN patch for a duration of 36 months.

Following the completion of this three-year treatment regimen, participants will enter a 12-month observation window to systematically assess their tolerance for ad libitum, or unrestricted, peanut consumption.

The initiation of the infant-focused trial represents a strategic step for the French biopharmaceutical company as it seeks to target peanut allergies at the earliest stages of immune development.

Clinical consensus has increasingly shifted toward early intervention as a critical window for altering the trajectory of food allergies.

Success in this younger population could significantly broaden the target market for DBV's proprietary Viaskin platform, which uses the skin to deliver microgram amounts of peanut protein to activate the immune system without entering the bloodstream.
