Sales rose 7.1% despite the quarter containing one fewer week than the prior-year period, while gross profit margin improved to 30.5% from 29.7% and operating margin remained at 10.6%.
Daktronics reported operating income of $24.9 million, net income of $19.4 million compared with $16.5 million a year earlier, operating cash flow of $31.4 million, and cash of $154.6 million with total debt of approximately $10.5 million.
The company reported orders of $191.8 million compared with $238.5 million in the prior-year quarter, while product backlog reached $311.3 million.
Daktronics designs and manufactures electronic display systems, including large-format video displays, scoreboards, and related control systems for sports, transportation, and commercial applications.
The company repurchased $4.4 million of shares during the quarter under its $40 million authorization, while its backlog remained above $300 million for the sixth consecutive quarter.
