
Comcast reports Q2 earnings highlighting Peacock profitability and NBCUniversal spin-off

Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) delivered its second-quarter 2026 financial results, highlighted by robust adjusted earnings per share of $1.04 and $4.6 billion in free cash flow.
The telecommunications and media conglomerate generated $8.9 billion in consolidated adjusted EBITDA while returning $2.1 billion to shareholders through $1.2 billion in dividend payments and $900 million in share repurchases.
Following the earnings announcement, Comcast's share price traded near $23.78.
Operationally, the domestic residential broadband division saw customer net losses improve by 34,000 year-over-year.
The domestic wireless segment recorded its best quarter on record with 448,000 line additions, pushing the total wireless base to 10.2 million lines and reaching a 7 percent penetration rate of addressable lines.
The Business Services Connectivity division also posted solid growth, with revenue increasing 3.7 percent to $2.7 billion and EBITDA rising 5 percent to $1.5 billion, representing a 56.7 percent margin.
In the media division, the Peacock streaming service reached a major milestone, achieving quarterly profitability for the first time with an EBITDA of $189 million, a $290 million year-over-year improvement.
The platform expanded to 48 million paid subscribers, adding 2 million net additions driven by major sporting events including the NBA Playoffs and the FIFA World Cup.
The Studios segment performed strongly, with EBITDA increasing by $141 million year-over-year.
Global box office successes included The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which surpassed $1 billion worldwide, and Obsession, which generated over $400 million, becoming Focus Features' highest-grossing film in history.
In a major structural shift, management announced plans to separate the business into two independent publicly traded companies through a tax-free spin-off of the NBCUniversal and Sky divisions.
