Cognyte operating profit rallies on resilient analytics software demand
Cognyte Software (NASDAQ:CGNT) delivered double-digit revenue growth and a sharp improvement in core operational profitability for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, capitalising on sustained global demand for its security and investigative analytics software platforms.
Total revenue for the three months ended April 30, 2026, rose 10.4% year over year to $105.5 million, up from the prior-year period.
The top-line growth translated into significant operating leverage for the company.
Cognyte's GAAP operating income doubled to $4.4 million for the quarter, compared to $2.2 million in the same period last year.
On a non-GAAP basis, which adjusts for stock-based compensation and non-recurring items, operating income climbed 41.5% to $10.7 million, representing an absolute increase of $3.1 million over the previous year's $7.6 million baseline.
Adjusted EBITDA also expanded significantly faster than revenue, climbing 31.5% year over year to $13.6 million from $10.3 million.
Unfavorable macroeconomic factors weighed on the company's bottom-line calculations.
Cognyte reported a GAAP net loss attributable to the company of $3 million, widening from a net loss of $1 million in the first quarter of the prior year.
Management noted that this net loss contraction was primarily driven by foreign exchange losses rather than an erosion in core business fundamentals.
