The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) resumed most Fairlife milk production after a ransomware attack disrupted operations at four U.S. facilities.
The company said the production restart follows a July 16 incident in which an unauthorised third party accessed some Fairlife technology systems, causing a temporary halt in U.S. operations.
“We have made significant progress in restoring service at the facilities and have resumed the majority of production,” said The Coca-Cola Company.
Coca-Cola said hackers obtained certain data during the incident, while the company continues efforts to fully restore production systems, and confirmed that product quality and safety were not affected.
The company said Fairlife product availability has been largely unaffected because of existing inventory levels and does not expect the cyberattack to have a meaningful impact on sales.
Coca-Cola acquired Fairlife from Select Milk Producers in 2020 for approximately $7 billion, and Fairlife is one of the company’s beverage brands with annual sales above $3 billion, according to Coca-Cola.
The company continues to operate Fairlife alongside its wider beverage portfolio as it works to strengthen production systems and respond to cybersecurity risks affecting business operations.
