
CME Group volume rises 6% in August
- CME Group reported August 2026 average daily volume of 29.7 million contracts, up 6% year over year.
- Interest Rate products led trading activity with 16.7 million contracts of average daily volume.

CME Group (NASDAQ:CME) reported August 2026 average daily volume of 29.7 million contracts, up 6% year over year and the company’s second-highest August level on record.
Interest Rate products generated the highest average daily volume at 16.7 million contracts, followed by Equity Index products at 6.8 million and Energy products at 2.3 million contracts.
CME Group reported Agricultural average daily volume of 2.2 million contracts, Metals volume of 1 million, Foreign Exchange volume of 730,000, and Cryptocurrency volume of 175,000 contracts representing $12 billion in notional value, while U.S. Treasury futures and options volume increased 15% to 11.8 million contracts.
CME Group reported International average daily volume increased 10% to 8.6 million contracts and BrokerTec average daily notional value increased 16% to $1.059 trillion.
CME Group operates global derivatives marketplaces offering futures and options contracts across interest rates, equity indexes, energy, agriculture, metals, foreign exchange, and cryptocurrency markets.
The company reported additional volume growth from specific products, including Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures, Micro WTI Crude Oil futures, and Micro Gold and Micro Silver futures, which recorded higher trading activity during August 2026.
