
Chunghwa Telecom revenue rises 8.2% to NT$61.36 billion
- Chunghwa Telecom’s second-quarter revenue increased 8.2% to NT$61.36 billion, while net income rose 4.7% to NT$10.64 billion.
- Revenue, operating income, net income and earnings per share exceeded the upper end of the company’s quarterly guidance.
- International ICT projects, 5G adoption and higher-speed broadband services supported the quarter’s growth.
Chunghwa Telecom (NYSE:CHT) reported second-quarter revenue of NT$61.36 billion, up 8.2%, as international ICT projects and core telecom services supported growth.
Operating income increased 5.7% to NT$13.26 billion, but the operating margin declined to 21.51% from 22.11% one year earlier.
“We delivered a solid second quarter and first half,” said Chunghwa Telecom Chairman and CEO Chih-Cheng Chien.
Net income rose 4.7% to NT$10.64 billion, basic EPS reached NT$1.38 and operating expenses increased 8.9% to NT$48.10 billion.
Chunghwa Telecom said it will advance its AI and connectivity strategy, and following the announcement the Chunghwa Telecom share price was unchanged at $41.89 before regular U.S. trading opened.
The company had 13.43 million mobile subscribers, while mobile service revenue increased 3.2% to NT$17.60 billion and 5G penetration reached 48.8%.
Fixed broadband revenue increased 3.3% to NT$11.97 billion as total broadband customers reached 4.47 million and higher-speed subscriptions continued growing.
