Centrus Energy (NYSE:LEU) signed a definitive multi-year contract to supply High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) to Antares Nuclear, with deliveries scheduled to begin before the end of the decade.
The agreement adds another HALEU customer to Centrus Energy’s backlog and provides Antares with a U.S.-origin uranium supply source intended to support advanced reactor projects for space and national security applications.
The contract includes prepayments from Antares that will help fund the expansion of domestic enrichment capacity, while Centrus continues development of HALEU production capabilities at its American Centrifuge Plant.
Centrus Energy supplies nuclear fuel and services, including enriched uranium products for commercial and government customers, and is developing domestic HALEU production capabilities.
The company said its American Centrifuge Plant is the only licensed HALEU production facility in the western world and that its expansion plans include large-scale HALEU and low-enriched uranium production.
