Goldman's Wheeler Says Volume of AI Debt May Pressure Spreads

The sheer volume of AI-related debt issuance could pressure spreads, according to Miriam Wheeler, global head of leveraged finance at Goldman Sachs. "If you look at the last couple weeks in the market on the non-IG [investment grade] side, we have seen some spread widening, particularly in the AI space," Wheeler tells Bloomberg Television.

Hedge Fund Titan Rokos Said to Quit UK for Greece

Chris Rokos, the founder of Rokos Capital Management, is set to leave the UK and switch his residency to Greece, people with knowledge of the arrangement said. Rokos will also open an office in Athens as part of the move, one of the people said. He is the latest in a string of high-profile financiers and business leaders that have chosen to leave after the abolition of the UK's long-standing non-dom regime and increased taxes on everything from private equity investments to inheritances and capital gains. Bloomberg's Jack Sidders reports.

Canada Hits US With Tariffs Of Up To 50%

Canada has imposed tariffs of 15% to 50% on hundreds of products from the US on Tuesday, as Prime Minister Mark Carney bets that standing up to President Donald Trump will eventually help Ottawa's negotiating position with its biggest trading partner. Carney's government increased the import tax on many US steel items to 50% from 25%, and applied tariffs to a range of consumer goods including motorcycles, cosmetics and cheese. The measure will hit US exporters particularly hard in states such as Michigan and Ohio that do a lot business with Canada and host heated races in November's midterm elections. Brent Oil Climbs Toward $100 With Hormuz Constrained

Brent oil approached $100 a barrel after Saudi Arabia said operations at several energy facilities in the kingdom's south were halted by attacks. Oil trader Vitol Group estimated that oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are about half of pre-war levels, but added that an exact figure is hard to quantify. Bloomberg's Will Kennedy has the latest.

CVC Marathon's Richards Says Equities Can Absorb 25 Bps Fed Hike (Correct)

Markets can withstand a 25 basis-point interest-rate increase by the Federal Reserve, according to Bruce Richards, managing partner and head of CVC Marathon. Cowan: South Africa Has Yet to Turn Growth Corner

David Cowan, Africa Economist at Citi Research, says South Africa has yet to turn the corner on growth, with the economy showing resilience rather than a strong acceleration. He also says Zimbabwe's recovery is benefiting from improved fiscal discipline, higher gold and lithium prices and stronger agricultural exports.
