Cardiol Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CRDL) reached its original enrollment target for the Phase III MAVERIC trial of CardiolRx in recurrent pericarditis and plans to expand enrollment to up to 150 patients.

The company reached the initial 110-patient target ahead of its end-of-September 2026 guidance and said the trial expansion followed a blinded review of recurrence rates.

The MAVERIC Steering Committee recommended increasing enrollment after the review showed fewer recurrences than expected, with Cardiol stating the expansion is intended to preserve statistical power.

CardiolRx is being evaluated as a potential treatment to reduce recurrence risk in patients with recurrent pericarditis, a condition involving inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart.

The company now expects topline MAVERIC results in mid-2027, compared with its previous guidance for the first quarter of 2027, and said existing capital is expected to fund the trial through completion.
