Cal-Maine posts $35.9 million quarterly loss

Cal-Maine Foods (NASDAQ:CALM) reported $552.6 million in fourth-quarter sales and a $35.9 million loss, or $0.76 per share.

The company earned $342.5 million a year earlier, while fiscal 2026 profit fell 74% to $316.7 million.

Cal-Maine introduced three reporting segments and announced a $54 million Prepared Foods expansion expected to add approximately 30% capacity in fiscal 2028.

Following the announcement, Cal-Maine Foods' share price was down 5.4% at $82.50 in premarket trading.

Meanwhile, Cal-Maine acquired Creighton Brothers assets and the Van’s brand, while Specialty Shell Eggs and Prepared Foods generated 53% of quarterly sales.

The company also repurchased $30.1 million of shares and will withhold dividends until recovering its cumulative $35.9 million loss.
