Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE:BAM) and American Real Estate Partners (AREP) announced that affiliates of Brookfield have agreed to acquire a minority interest in AREP.

The investment brings together AREP’s vertically integrated data center development platform with Brookfield’s global scale, investment capabilities, and experience across real estate, energy, and infrastructure.

AREP said the partnership will support continued growth of its investment and development platform across its core markets and asset classes.

Brookfield said the investment aligns with the growing need for physical infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services.

The companies highlighted AREP’s data center capabilities and Brookfield’s expertise in real estate, energy, and infrastructure as complementary strengths for future digital infrastructure development.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions. Rothschild & Co served as exclusive financial advisor to AREP.
