Borr Drilling (NYSE:BORR) said five personnel remained unaccounted for after its Prospector 5 jack-up drilling rig sank offshore Gabon on October 24, 2026.
Of the 115 people aboard, 110 were safely accounted for and were being brought ashore in Gabon to receive care and support.
The incident occurred during jacking operations ahead of a planned drilling campaign, with preliminary findings indicating a seabed punch-through during preload activities caused the rig to lose stability and sink.
Borr's emergency response team is working with local authorities and customer BW Energy as extensive marine and aerial search operations continue.
The company said it was communicating with the missing personnel's families and would cooperate with partners and authorities on an investigation into the incident's cause.
The Prospector 5 had been preparing to support BW Energy's offshore Gabon operations, while the company's October 26 update maintained the search for missing personnel as its overriding priority.
