Archer acquires Boeing units in aviation expansion deal

• Archer Aviation agreed to acquire Boeing’s Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu units, expanding its aviation technology portfolio.

Archer Aviation (NYSE:ACHR) agreed to acquire Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu units, combining electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft technology with autonomous and unmanned aviation systems.

The transaction expands Archer’s focus beyond eVTOL aircraft as the company adds Wisk’s autonomous flight technology, SkyGrid’s airspace management software and Insitu’s unmanned aircraft capabilities.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, while Boeing will continue accessing Wisk’s autonomous flight systems for commercial and defense programs under a separate technology-sharing agreement.

Following the announcement, Archer Aviation's share price was up about 15% in Monday trading.

Archer said Wisk has completed more than 1,700 flight tests across six generations of eVTOL aircraft, while SkyGrid develops software for managing automated airspace operations.

Boeing will maintain exposure to Archer through its existing investment stake while directing additional investments toward its core aerospace operations.

The acquisition is part of Archer’s broader strategy to expand its technology capabilities as electric aircraft, autonomous flight and unmanned aviation markets continue developing.
