Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Prosol Group, the dominant force behind France’s specialized fresh-food retail market.

The transaction, finalized on May 7, 2026, transfers control of a company that has become a staple of French grocery shopping through its popular Grand Frais and fresh banners.

Founded in 1992, Prosol operates or supplies a network of nearly 450 stores throughout France.

The company’s unique business model, which emphasizes high-quality produce, dairy, and meat products in a marketplace-style environment, has allowed it to capture significant market share from traditional hypermarkets.

The deal underscores a growing appetite among private equity firms for resilient, cash-generative retail assets with strong consumer loyalty.

Under the terms of the agreement, Prosol’s management team and existing minority shareholders have reinvested alongside the Apollo-managed funds, signaling a commitment to the brand's long-term operational strategy.

Jean-Paul Mochet is set to remain as Chief Executive Officer, providing continuity as the company seeks to scale its footprint and potentially explore further international expansion.
