Anixa Biosciences receives Australian patent for breast cancer vaccine technology

Anixa Biosciences (NASDAQ:ANIX) announced that it received its first Australian composition-of-matter patent for its breast cancer vaccine technology.

The patent, issued by IP Australia as Patent Number 2020221280 and titled “Vaccine Adjuvants and Formulations,” provides exclusive protection for the technology in Australia through 2040.

The patent covers a vaccine approach exclusively licensed by Anixa from Cleveland Clinic and expands the company’s global intellectual property portfolio, which already includes protection in the United States and other international markets, including Europe, China and Japan.

The company’s breast cancer vaccine program completed a Phase 1 clinical trial at Cleveland Clinic, with funding support from the U.S. Department of Defense.

According to Anixa, the trial achieved its major primary endpoints, demonstrating that the vaccine was safe and well tolerated. More than 74% of participants achieved protocol-defined immune responses.

The company said the patent expansion strengthens its position as it advances further clinical development of its vaccine technology.
