Amgen reports Sjogren’s drug trial success

• Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) said its experimental drug dazodalibep met the main goal in a late-stage trial for Sjogren’s disease.
• The drug showed statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in disease activity at Week 48 compared with the study’s control group.

Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) said its experimental drug dazodalibep met the primary goal in a late-stage trial evaluating treatment for Sjogren’s disease.

The Phase 3 study showed statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in disease activity at Week 48 among patients treated with dazodalibep.

Amgen reported that most adverse events in the trial were mild to moderate, with few participants discontinuing treatment, while the company expects the trial to conclude in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Sjogren’s disease is an autoimmune condition that affects moisture-producing glands and can cause dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue, and chronic pain.

Amgen is developing dazodalibep alongside other companies, including Novartis (NYSE:NVS) and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), which are also researching potential treatments for Sjogren’s disease.

The company plans to present detailed results from the trial at an upcoming medical meeting, as Sjogren’s disease currently has no approved treatments in the United States.
