Addex regains rights to GABAB drug assets

• Addex Therapeutics regained full global rights to GABAB positive allosteric modulator assets previously developed under its collaboration with Indivior.
• The company will now control the returned development candidate and evaluate options for advancing or partnering the programs.
• Addex said the assets could support research programs targeting substance use disorders, chronic cough, pain, and other neurological conditions.

Addex Therapeutics (NASDAQ:ADXN) announced it regained full global rights to its GABAB positive allosteric modulator assets from Indivior UK, including a development candidate previously selected under their research collaboration.

The rights return follows Indivior’s decision to reduce its research and development activities and comes after the announcement of a planned merger involving Indivior’s parent company and Supernus Pharmaceuticals.

“These GABAB PAM assets reflect years of world-class research in allosteric modulation and build on a biological approach clinically validated by baclofen,” said Addex Therapeutics CEO Tim Dyer.

The termination of the collaboration gives Addex full ownership of the returned development candidate and allows the company to pursue therapeutic applications beyond the indications originally covered by the agreement, including substance use disorders and chronic cough programs.
