Acumen Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ABOS) reported a third-quarter 2026 net loss of $25.4 million, compared with $26.5 million a year earlier, as the biotechnology company prepares to release Phase 2 Alzheimer's disease trial results in November.
Net loss per share narrowed to $0.35 from $0.44, while research and development expenses decreased to $21.1 million from $22 million, primarily reflecting lower manufacturing, materials and clinical research costs.
“We remain encouraged by the potential for sabirnetug to become a treatment of choice, with a differentiated benefit-risk profile driven by its unique attributes as an anti-AβO IgG2 monoclonal antibody,” said Chief Executive Officer Daniel O'Connell.
Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $78.6 million at September 30, down from $110.2 million at June 30, while general and administrative expenses increased to $4.7 million from $4.5 million.
Acumen expects to report topline results from its Phase 2 ALTITUDE-AD study in November 2026, including cognitive and functional efficacy measures, safety findings and biomarkers, while targeting an investigational new drug application for its Enhanced Brain Delivery program in mid-2027.
The ALTITUDE-AD trial enrolled 542 participants with early Alzheimer's disease to evaluate two intravenous doses of sabirnetug against placebo over 18 months, using the Integrated Alzheimer's Disease Rating Scale as its primary clinical endpoint.
Acumen expects its available cash resources to support current clinical and operational activities into early 2027, leaving future development and financing requirements dependent in part on the upcoming trial results.
