Ace Hardware has announced a strategic partnership with Uber Eats (NYSE:UBER) to provide on-demand and scheduled delivery of home repair and gardening supplies from more than 3,700 locations across the United States.

The move marks a significant expansion of the "helpful hardware" retailer's digital fulfillment capabilities and a deepening of Uber’s push into the broader retail sector.

Under the new agreement, customers can access local Ace Hardware inventory directly through the Uber Eats app.

The service allows for both immediate "on-demand" delivery for mid-project emergencies and scheduled drop-offs for planned home improvements.

While Ace operates as a retailer-owned cooperative, the majority of its independently owned stores are expected to participate in the rollout, leveraging their physical proximity to residential neighborhoods to act as micro-fulfillment centers.

The collaboration is the latest in a series of aggressive moves by Uber Eats to diversify its revenue streams beyond restaurant orders.

By integrating categories such as home improvement, beauty, and electronics, Uber is positioning itself as a direct competitor to specialized logistics players and traditional e-commerce giants.

This mirrors similar efforts by DoorDash, which has utilized neighborhood warehouses and third-party partnerships to capture a larger share of the "everyday essentials" market.
