XRP whales add 220M tokens
- Large XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) holders accumulated 220 million tokens during the latest market decline, according to Santiment data.
- XRP traded near US$1.36, while Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) remained under heavier selling pressure from large holders.
- CoinDesk reported XRP whale buying could support stabilisation, while Ether showed signs of deeper investor capitulation.
Large XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) holders accumulated about 220 million tokens during the latest price decline, according to Santiment data.
XRP traded near US$1.36, with whale accumulation contrasting with selling pressure across other parts of the crypto market.
Santiment data showed wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million XRP increased their balances during the decline.
Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) showed a different pattern, with larger holders continuing to reduce their exposure during the market weakness.
CoinDesk said the contrasting activity suggests XRP whales are buying lower prices while Ether holders show stronger signs of capitulation.
XRP whale accumulation does not guarantee a price recovery because broader market conditions can still influence the token.
The data highlights different investor behaviour across XRP and Ether as the wider cryptocurrency market remains under pressure.
