  • XRP Ledger implemented software fixes in its XRPL 3.2.0 upgrade after a security review identified bugs and edge cases in the network's core software.
  • Security firm Common Prefix uncovered the issues during a formal verification process of XRP Ledger's consensus mechanism.
  • The review will expand to proposed lending and vault features as XRP Ledger continues development of tokenisation and decentralised finance tools.

XRP Ledger (CRYPTO:XRP) deployed multiple software fixes through its XRPL 3.2.0 upgrade after a security review identified bugs and edge cases in the network's validator software.

The fixes followed a formal analysis conducted by blockchain security firm Common Prefix, which used mathematical verification methods to test whether XRPL components behaved according to their specifications.

“As XRPL expands the financial capabilities built directly into the protocol, the rigor applied to security, testing, and validation must evolve alongside it,” said RippleX Head of Engineering J Ayo Akinyele.

The review identified numerical and behavioural issues in xrpld, the software used by XRP Ledger validators, and the XRP Ledger Foundation said the problems were addressed in version 3.2.0.

Common Prefix will next conduct formal verification work on XRP Ledger's proposed Single Asset Vault and Lending Protocol features, and following the announcement XRP was up about 3.6% at an intraday high of US$1.16.

The security initiative forms part of broader efforts to prepare XRP Ledger for additional financial services, including tokenisation and decentralised finance applications.

Discussion also continued within the XRP community regarding Ripple's escrow strategy, with some market participants arguing for faster token releases while others warned that larger unlocks could increase selling pressure if demand growth does not keep pace.

At the time of reporting, XRP price was $1.11.
